Anyone can get COVID-19. Fortunately about 90% of people will have mild symptoms with COVID19. Serious infections have been seen in most age groups, however, some groups do appear to be at higher risk of having a severe COVID infection. Those groups include:
Adults age 65 and older
People who smoke cigarettes
People with chronic lung disease, such as COPD, asthma, and fibrosis
People with other chronic conditions (heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, body mass index 40 kg/m2 or higher)
People who have impaired immune system function
Including: those receiving cancer treatment, people who have received bone marrow or organ transplantation, and people who have AIDS
